2013 Wrap-Up with Turbosmart CEO Nic Cooper

What a fantastic year of growth and change 2013 was for Turbosmart. Our engineering and production departments were busy with some brilliant new releases over the past 12 months. We’ve added to our range of popular Internal Wastegate Actuators, to cover an even wider range of popular performance makes and models. We brought out our new Kompact Shortie and VAG “on compressor cover” range expanding the Turbosmart brand into a new market of European cars. And we boosted our offerings for big V8’s and turbo diesel motors with the addition of our High Pressure Wastegates, and our biggest ever blow off valve, the Big Bubba.

As always, we set high goals for ourselves in 2013; we wanted to expand our brand worldwide and offer the racing and tuning community products that featured smart design, standout performance and great value for money.

I’m happy to say that we succeeded in all three key areas. Our US Office, Turbosmart USA LLC has had its most successful year yet! Turbosmart products have become so popular in the States that we’ve had to expand into to a truly huge new warehouse. While over the pond in Europe, we now also have a full-time warehousing facility – thanks to a partnership with Ozparts in Poland. This means Turbosmart, along with its distinctive range of products is now readily available to so many more performance enthusiasts in these regions of the world, making us a truly global brand.

The Turbosmart brand was especially well represented on racetracks around the world this year. On the drag racing scene, Andy Frost reset the world record for the fastest street driven car, in the dominating Turbosmart sponsored Red Victor. In the USA, drag racer Mike Murillo won both the NMCA and NMRA crowns in his Turbosmart-equipped twin turbo Mustang. At home in Australia, Pac Performance duked it out with racers from Puerto Rico to be the world’s fastest Rotary, resetting the records several times throughout the year.

Turbosmart-equipped cars excelled at going around corners too, especially in the increasingly popular class of Time Attack where Turbosmart clearly dominated. FXMD’s Turbosmart-equipped Acura NSX again reset the lap record at the Buttonwillow racetrack in the USA. In Japan, “Under” Suzuki wrote a new lap record for the Tsukuba circuit, and for the second year in a row Turbosmart-equipped cars came 1st, 2nd and 3rd outright at the World Time Attack Challenge in Australia!

On the show and event scene, we were proud to sponsor the inaugural Turbosmart Flying 500 at this year’s World Time Attack Challenge, and we look forward to growing that in the years to come. We also attended the PRI show in freezing cold Indianapolis, with our exhibit being the most successful to date!

I’m looking forward to the next 12 months with excitement and anticipation. We have some great new products on the way, and some other surprises up our sleeve, but I don’t want to give too much away on that just yet.

On behalf of myself and all the staff at Turbosmart, I would like to thank all our distributors, dealers, racers and of course all our customers for their support — here’s to a great 2014.

Take care,

Nicholas Cooper
