Team Turbosmart’s Russ Paton has topped the Club Pro class in the 2015 UK Time Attack championship, following the final round at Rockingham on 19 September. The final round of the 2015 season also coincided with the 10 year anniversary of UK Time Attack, the first event having been held at Rockingham on the same day, back in 2005.
Paton pedaled his Turbosmart-equipped HQ Garage Mitsubishi Evo VI to a 1:39.958. While the time was second to the class leader of the day, Ronnie Amis and his Mk5 VW Golf, Paton’s consistently strong performance throughout the series placed him in the championship points lead.
The very next day, Paton was back competing at Knockhill for Super Lap Scotland, where he narrowly missed out on a podium finish for the final round, pipped by fellow Turbosmart-teammate Andy Napier in the RA Motorsports Subaru Impreza. Andy Forrest led the field on the day, despite driving a borrowed car, with his own 1200hp Impreza on its way to Australia for the World Time Attack Challenge in October. Will the Scottish challenger have what it takes to beat the World Time Attack regulars? We’ll have to wait and see!
The next UK Time Attack and Super Lap Scotland series kick off next year.
