Team Turbosmart’s Kevin “Flash” Fiscus of Fiscus Klugger Racing has been racking up the success lately, with a win at the American Outlaws Live race in Texas as well as a runner-up finish at the NHRA Pro Mod event in Georgia.
Fiscus’s twin turbo 2012 Ford Mustang won the Outlaw Big Tire class, taking home a $15,000 check for winning all five rounds on May 6 at the Texas Motorplex. The Mustang runs two Turbosmart PowerGate-60 wastegates and Race Port blow-off valves.
The following weekend, Fiscus headed to Atlanta Dragway in Georgia for the NHRA Southern Nationals. Despite a challenging track, Fiscus set a commendable 5.996 at 244.03mph to qualify in fifteenth place. Up against some tough competition, including last years’ NHRA Pro Mod champion, Troy Coughlin, Fiscus had his work cut out to make his way up the leaderboard. Putting in an impressive performance, Fiscus narrowly missed out on a win in the final against number one qualifier Rickie Smith, and finished the day as the runner up in among some serious competition.
Meanwhile, teammate Josh Klugger set a new NMCA Radial Wars class speed record at the NMCA Bluegrass Nationals in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Driving his ’93 Mustang fitted with the engine that gave Fiscus his win at American Outlaws Live, Klugger set an insane 3.964 at 211.26mph, resetting the class record.
