Turbosmart at Autosport International 2016

The UK’s biggest motorsports trade show, Autosport International, has just wrapped up for another year at the NEC in Birmingham. After weeks of late nights and early mornings while Turbosmart UK’s staff prepared for the show, it all came together over four busy days from 14th to 17th January – the first two being trade only, while the weekend was open to the public.

We were offering the UK’s first look at the brand new products that secured Turbosmart a massive haul of awards at SEMA in the US.

The ProGate-50 Lite external wastegate, eBoostHP electronic boost controller and Race Port Sensor Cap blow-off valve position sensor all won awards at the world’s largest automotive aftermarket trade show.

The ProGate-50 Lite is a new wastegate that offers high-performance flow in an extremely compact package for a 50mm wastegate. The ProGate-50 Lite is available for purchase now.

The eBoostHP is an electronic boost controller capable of accurately managing up to 120PSI of boost, combining all the features of the existing eBoost2, which includes the ability to control methanol injection, water spray or to programme boost by time, gear or a range of other parameters.

The Race Port Sensor Cap adds valve position data logging capability to Turbosmart’s highest-flowing blow-off valve. Tuning with a blow-off valve used to be a game of trial and error, but the sensor cap allows tuners to see exactly what the valve is doing, and when.

It wasn’t just products sitting on shelves – the Turbosmart stand was also home to Marcin ‘Mad Pol’ Mucha’s brilliantly executed 2JZ-engined, Turbosmart-equipped Honda S2000 drift car. Having Marcin’s Honda on display meant punters could get right up close and see the products in their natural habitat – installed on a seriously high-performance motorsport machine.

Team Turbosmart drivers Danielle Murphy, Jack Shanahan, Orjan Nilssen, and Team Redmist all stopped past for a chat, to tell us about their 2015 season and what 2016 has in store for them. Danielle Murphy and Jack Shanahan are both reigning drift champions, taking out the Queen of Europe Drift Championship and the British Drift Championship, respectively.

The Turbosmart UK team are looking forward to a well earned rest after this year’s show. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who came to visit us at Autosport, all our customers who joined us for a beer on Friday afternoon, and to our Team Turbosmart family who were fantastic as always.
