Turbosmart equipped cars have taken out a straight 1-2-3 finish at the 2015 KMC Wheels Super Drift Challenge on April 19 in Long Beach. The event was held by Formula DRIFT as a side competition to the main championship to coincide with the Toyota Grand Prix at Long Beach.
First place was taken out by Conrad Grunewald and his twin-turbocharged Camaro, which has two Turbosmart BOVs under the hood.
Turbosmart’s own sponsored driver Robbie Nishida grabbed the silver trophy with his PowerGate-equipped Lexus SC300.
Both drivers were joined on the podium by Forrest Wang, who came in at third with his Nissan S15, which runs a Turbosmart eBoost2 to handle 900HP produced by its twin-turbo 2JZ.
The event boosts hopes for Grunewald who was knocked out in the first heat of round one of Formula DRIFT in Long Beach, CA. The result also shows that Nishida may have some more success in store, as he hopes to better his already impressive seventh place at the first round of the championship.
Round two of Formula DRIFT takes off on May 8 at Road Atlanta. We wish our Turbosmart drivers all the best, and hope to see some more podium finishes!
