24 Outlaw 10.5 race cars lined up for the Street Car Super Nationals held at The Strip at Las Vegas. Driving his 550ci twin turbo Ford Mustang, Murillo qualified second behind Doug Sikora with an amazing 6.354 at 235.39mph
In the final round, Murillo went up against Rich Klann and his Dodge Neon taking the holeshot and the event win. In his interview with NMCAdigital Murillo said:
“Incredible. It was everything we wanted it be and more. It was a hell of a race. Believe it or not, minus 100 pounds and the “pecker extender”, we were NMCA-legal, too. That’s what’s really exciting. I was so proud to represent NMCA there against the best competition in the country. It was good for us to get out there and do well.”
Turbosmart is a long-time sponsor and supporter of the Murillo Race Team and we wish them all the best of luck at the upcoming event at the San Antonio Raceway on November 23-24.
When the Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine decides to modify a 5.0L Coyote engine, you know the result is going to be something special.
Starting with a crate 5.0L Coyote motor, the build started with some simple bolt-ons, plus a Zex nitrous system. In this part of the build, a turbo kit was fitted with Turbosmart Ultra Gate 38 wastegate and a Supersonic BOV.
Here is what MMFF had to say about the setup:
“Even in normally aspirated trim, the 5.0L Coyote was an impressive performer. How do you argue with a 5.0L motor that produces over 500 hp and an equally amazing 450 lb-ft of torque? Only after you see the power numbers put down by the turbo motor do those start to look a little anemic. Despite valvespring pressure limiting the available engine speed, the Hellion turbo system improved the power output of the 5.0L Coyote by over 300 hp! Running a rising boost curve that started at 8.6 psi and ended at 14.2 psi, the turbo 5.0L produced peak numbers of 844 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque.”
