Project Blackout gets some boost

When set out to build the “Ultimate Street Car” they knew it had to go hard, stop hard and handle well. Not surprisingly, they’ve started with a tried and proven, not to mention very popular, Ford Mustang.

Dubbed “Project Blackout”, the 2012 Mustang GT has been fitted with Hellion’s “Eliminator” single turbo kit, featuring Turbosmart external wastegate.

With a Boss 302 intake manifold and Ford Racing 90mm throttle body the car managed to produce 658hp at the rear wheels and laid down a 11.07sec@125mph quarter mile!

MMFF Coyote gets boosted!

When the Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords magazine decides to modify a 5.0L Coyote engine, you know the result is going to be something special.

Starting with a crate 5.0L Coyote motor, the build started with some simple bolt-ons, plus a Zex nitrous system. In this part of the build, a turbo kit was fitted with Turbosmart Ultra Gate 38 wastegate and a Supersonic BOV.

Here is what MMFF had to say about the setup:
“Even in normally aspirated trim, the 5.0L Coyote was an impressive performer. How do you argue with a 5.0L motor that produces over 500 hp and an equally amazing 450 lb-ft of torque? Only after you see the power numbers put down by the turbo motor do those start to look a little anemic. Despite valvespring pressure limiting the available engine speed, the Hellion turbo system improved the power output of the 5.0L Coyote by over 300 hp! Running a rising boost curve that started at 8.6 psi and ended at 14.2 psi, the turbo 5.0L produced peak numbers of 844 hp and 780 lb-ft of torque.”
